Graduated from SCB Medical College, Cuttack. Obtained MD from same institution. Trained in Gastroenterology at CMC, Vellore. Currently Professor & Head of Gastroenterology, S.C.B. Medical College, Cuttack. Started World Hepatitis B Eradication Day on 28 July 2001.

Conferred National Professor by Indian Medical Association College of GP. Member of many learned Academic societies including AGA, EASL, APASL, AASLD, ACG, ISG, INASL, SGEI, and Indian Pancreatic Club. Chairman of Kalinga Gastroenterology Foundation. Currently Secretary General of INASL and SAASL. Organized numerous conferences including Annual Indian Liver Congress in 2010, 2013 and 2014, and Annual ISG Conference in 1995. Invited Faculty in innumerable National and International Gastroenterology Meets.

Authored numerous original articles and editorials in international journals. Editor of Hepatitis B Annual & Associate Editor, Journal of Clinical & Experimental Hepatology.
