Background: Sclerosis injection therapy in treating gastric variceal bleeding is a less invasive treatment, however, this technique has not been widely used in Vietnam yet. We aimed to review the primary efficacy and the safety of sclerosis injection therapy in management of gastric variceal bleeding in 2 center hospitals.Patients and method: All selective patients with gastric variceal bleeding who underwent sclerosis injection therapy with histoacryl from June,2011 to July,2013 were included in this study. Patients were followed up for more than 6 months. Results: Forty-six patients had gastric varicses sclerotherapy with the technical success rate was 95.7 %, we failed two cases due to difficulties of hemostasis. Complications: Fever rate was 17.4%, epigastric pain rate was 13.0%, there were no cases with septicaemia. Haemorrhage recurrent rates were 4.3% after 1 month, 6.5% after 3 months, 10.9% after 6 months, respectively. Three patients died after 12 months of follow-up. Disappearance of gastric varices after 1 session of sclerosis injection was 96.3%.Conclusions: Sclerosis injection therapy with histoacryl is an effective and safe technique in the treatment of gastric variceal bleeding, and should be used widely in Vietnam
