Advances in endoscopic imaging and screening endoscopy leads to increase in detection for early GI cancers. Currently, endoscopic resection serves as standard treatment. ESD is technically challenging due to the lack of retraction. The development of robotic endoscopy enhanced the performance of ESD through two robotic arms for retraction and dissection. We pioneered development of EndoMASTER in collaboration with Singapore, first prototype included two robotic arms built in a double channel endoscope. The first multi-center clinical trial was performed in 2011 with clinical success in achieving en-bloc resection of early gastric neoplasia for 5 patients. The second generation EndoMASTER was developed for colorectal ESD. The system consisted of a newly designed flexible endoscope with two large channels for passage of the two robotic arms. I will present the latest update on the clinical application of EndoMASTER for colorectal ESD in this presentation. |
