Background: During COVID-19 pandemic, colonoscopy teaching faced a great dilemma. Therefore, we developed an e-learning software named Colonoscope Roaming System (CRS) to assist colonoscopy teaching procedures. Objective: The study aimed to develop an e-learning software, apply it in primary colonoscopist and evaluate its effectiveness. Methods: CRS simulates the real structure of digestive tract and inserts endoscopic images of routine diseases. Participants were randomly allocated to an e-learning group (EG) or a non–e-learning control group (CG) . After the training, participants undertook a test. EG completed a satisfaction questionnaire. Results: EG’s test scores were higher than those of CG (P<0.05). 86.25% (690/800) of the participants were satisfied with CRS. Conclusions: CRS is an effective educational strategy for primary colonoscopists to acquire skills.
