【Aim】We aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of a novel partially covered metallic stent(Spring Stopper, Taewoong Medical) on EUS-HGS.
【Methods】Between December 2015 and May 2022, 52 patients with malignant biliary obstruction underwent EUS-HGS were included. All cases were classified into SS group: 12 cases using Spring Stopper, PC group: 29 cases using other partially covered metallic stents, and FC group: 12 cases using fully covered metallic stents. Technical success rate, clinical success rate, recurrent biliary obstruction(RBO)rate and adverse events(AEs)rate were evaluated.
【Results】 Technical success rate was 100% in all groups. Clinical success rate was 83% (10/12) in the SS group, 83% (24/29) in the PC group and 67% (8/12) in the FC group (P = 0.55). RBO rate was 17% (2/12) in the SS group, 28% (8/29) in the PC group and 33% (4/12) in the FC group. (P = 0.651) AEs rate was 17% (2/12) in the SS group, 35% (10/29) in the PC group and 33% (4/12) (P = 0.62). A Stent dislocation occurred in a case in the PC group and 2 cases in the FC group, however, no case in the SS group(P=0.08).
【Conclusion】The technical and clinical success rate of Spring Stopper were sufficient and no stent dislocation was observed.
