As a predecessor of Korean College of Helicobacter and Upper Gastrointestinal Research (KCHUGR), Korean Helicobacter pylori Study Group was founded on Feb. 1997 for the purpose of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)-associated research and academic communication among Korean researchers, and held the first academic conference on Jun. 1997. After years of regular research meetings, and have been holding regular joint symposium with Japanese Society of Helicobacter Research since 2001. On 2003, we changed the official name of our society as KCHUGR, and firstly held the international symposium on Helicobacter and UGI research on 2014, which is now inherited in the name of HUG. Currently, KCHUGR has evolved into one of the few academic societies in the world that regularly holds international conferences on the subject of expertise in Helicobacter-related and upper gastrointestinal diseases. In my presentation, I would like to talk about the present and future direction of KCHUGR, focusing on several projects and researches under the leadership of KCHUGR and, especially mention about key projects during the term of our board members. We expect that KCHUGR could be a global society leading international researches on Helicobacter and upper gastrointestinal diseases in the near future.
