Jean-Francois Rey, MD, FASGE, AGAF JGESF
Dr Rey is gastroenterologist and endoscopist working at Institute Arnault Tzanck, Saint Laurent du var, France.
Dr Rey graduated from Marseille university in 1978.He completed his internship in Nice university under Prof.Delmont then was clinical assistant in Bristol royal infirmary under Prof A. Read. he spends two years in basic research as” Charge de recherche “in national French research institute (INSERM) before moving in a private hospital (institute Arnault Tzanck) creating a GI unit focused in digestive endoscopy.
Since 1974 Dr Rey develop expertise in ERCP with initial guidance from Prof I. Oi from Japan and was part of the introduction of Electronic digestive endoscopy then Enhanced Endoscopy Imaging. He was an active member of Paris ‘classification committee under S, Kudo and R. Lambert. Since 2004 he was involved in capsule endoscopy development and realised with Japanese colleagues the first human clinical trial on magnetic guided gastric capsule in Saint Laurent du var.
Aside its medical carrier Dr Rey has been involved in French healthcare system as chairman of all private subspecialties committee during 12 years and award the highest French distinction “chevalier de la legion d’honneur “presented personally by the French heath minister
Dr Rey has been president of French digestive endoscopic society (SFED) then ESGE president and finally he was WEO president organizing the world congress ENDO2020 in Rio de Janeiro March 2020. He is now WEO past president ;He became ASGE fellow in 2007 and AGA fellow in 2010 .In 2018 he was awarded by JGES ‘International honorary member.”
