The liver has an incredible ability to regenerate after liver injury, but in certain settings such as chronic ongoing injury this ability is exhausted. Cellular therapies offer the potential to suppress ongoing liver injury, target liver fibrosis and augment endogenous hepatocyte proliferation. This talk will provide an overview of the main cellular therapies that have/are being evaluated and deliver a perspective on what the optimal approach will be to improve patient outcomes. |
