Laparoscopic liver resection has been accepted as an excellent treatment for liver malignancy including HCC and liver metastasis. The 1st and 2nd consensus meeting on laparoscopic liver resection has stated that major resection is a still risky procedure associated with its novelty. When the tumor is located at posterosuperior area, it is not easy to perform laparoscopic liver resection meticulously. Anatomic liver resection has advantages of minimizing remnant liver ischemia. The 3D image and high quality images have made possible for meticulous parenchymal transection. ICG fluorescence technique also help for anatomic live resection. Robotic liver surgery is becoming popularity.. Recently, there are several reports on the application of LLR for cholangiocarcinoma. Although, the number of reports are still not large, the outcomes for cholangiocarcinoma are encouraging. With the evident advantage associated with minimal invasive surgery, more MIS liver resection will be performed in the future. |
