Purpose: We utilized a medical information-sharing network as a tool to improve hepatitis-patients care. Methods: We used ID-Link, which is one of such network systems, in the following two ways:1)To apply for the subsidy to undergo antiviral treatments, an application form must be filled out at the designated institutes. Joint research facility was not such a designated institute, thus, the hepatologist at the regional core institute, our hospital, provided online medical care for hepatitis patients at joint research facility, then joint research facility was upgraded to a designated institute. 2)Our hospital has been confirming annual visit of hepatitis patients to specialized institutes using a survey form filled out by the hepatologists at specialized institutes. We confirmed visits of each patients browsing the medical information of the specialized institutes via ID-Link. Results: 1)Five hepatitis C patients of joint research facility were remotely cared by a hepatologist at our hospital using ID-Link and Zoom, and an application form of the subsidy was prepared. All patients were treated using the subsidy and achieved SVR. 2)Linkage using ID-Link between our hospital and 19 specialized institutes was established for 347 patients by the end of February 2024. In FY2023, the visit rate to specialized institutes from the returned survey form was only 50%, but by combining the information from ID-Link, the actual rate of visits was 96%. Conclusion: This study demonstrated usefulness of medical information-sharing network to improve hepatitis-patients cares in several fields. |
