I am Tetsuro Takehara from Kansai Rosai Hospital and I will be the President of the 29th General Meeting of the Japan Society of Hepatology at JDDW 2025. It is a great honor for me to be in charge of this conference, which has a long history and tradition.

With advances in the treatment of viral hepatitis, we can now expect the eradication of hepatitis C and the control of hepatitis B. On the other hand, the increase in lifestyle-related liver diseases such as fatty liver disease and alcoholic liver disease is a major challenge. There are also a number of unresolved problems with autoimmune liver diseases, cirrhosis and liver cancer.

The main topics of liver diseases will be covered in the thematic sessions of the congress, where both clinical and basic abstracts will be actively discussed and the progress and future prospects of each field will be widely debated.

We look forward to seeing you all in Kobe in the deep autumn of 2025.
