Hello everyone, I'm Shinji Okaniwa, Technical Executive and Director of Endoscopic Center of Iida Municipal Hospital.

It is my great honor to host the 63rd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Gastrointestinal Cancer Screening.

To improve the prognosis of digestive cancer, it is necessary to detect cancer at an earlier stage, and for this purpose, it is important to set appropriate “high-risk groups” and manage them properly.

However, at present, various risk factors have been identified for each organ, and no clear criteria have been established for the method and duration of follow-up.

Furthermore, depending on the risk factors, it may be necessary to screen for cancer in multiple organs.

This time, we would like to focus on colorectal cancer and pancreatic cancer, and discuss the appropriate establishment and management of “high-risk groups”.
