November 1st  9:00–12:00  Room11

Chairperson Ryuichi Okamoto Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Graduate School, Institute of Science Tokyo
Atsunori Tsuchiya Department of Gastroenterology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Yamanashi

Regenerative research and medicine is one of the areas that the Japanese Society of Gastroenterology (JSGE) is paying much attention to as it is expected to develop in the future. In recent years, this field has been expanding in many areas, including not only basic stem cell, but also medical applications and cancer treatment. At this joint symposium with United European Gastroenterology (UEG), two speakers from the European and Japanese societies will give presentations: (UEG) Prof. Madelon Maurice (University Medical Center Utrecht) will present a paper on patient-based organoid-based analysis of colorectal cancer, and Prof. Alexander Kleger (Ulm University Hospital) will present pancreatic cancer research utilizing human pluripotent stem cells. (JSGE) Prof. Ryuichi Okamoto of Institute of Science Tokyo will present regenerative research and medical development for inflammatory bowel disease, and Prof. Atsunori Tsuchiya of University of Yamanashi will present regenerative research and medical development for liver cirrhosis. It is hoped that the two societies will deepen their understanding and mutually advance research and medical development.
